West Eynsham SDA

From "Call for Ideas, Opportunities and Sites"

Go to the project

The Local Plan consultation process is accompanied by a Call for Sites process. Whilst Berkeley has a land interest in the West Eynsham SDA, which is already within the WOLP 2031 and is proposed to be retained as an existing commitment in the WOLP 2041, Berkeley would like to use this opportunity to put forward additional land that could form an extension to the SDA allocation to facilitate the delivery of the proposed spine road. The existing allocation was made prior to the detailed design of the spine road route through the site.

Subsequently, the Polar Technology factory was constructed on part of the allocation through which the spine road was indicatively routed in the Local Plan allocation policy at Figure 9.5d.

The route of the Spine Road has subsequently been amended to fall to the west of the Polar Technology Site, This has had the unavoidable consequence of tacking the route of the spine road outside of the SDA allocation boundary. This route of the spine road is included in the agreed West Eynsham SDA masterplan.

As such, it is requested that additional land is added to the SDA so that it includes all the land required for the delivery of the spine road as per the route shown in the masterplan.

A plan is attached at Appendix 1 showing this additional land.

Berkeley trusts that WODC will have regard to the above comments and would welcome the chance to discuss the opportunities this site can bring to Eynsham and the wider District given its location to a sustainable settlement that can make effective use of proposed infrastructure and new transport links.
