Controlling Airbnb properties

Given the shortage of housing in West Oxfordshire I am concerned about the number of Airbnb properties. These properties are very profitable to run which leads to an increase in house prices which often means local people, especially young couples are being priced out of the market. The financial incentives for Airbnb over long term rental also means that long term rentals are being taken out of the market and replace with short term holiday lets. These properties damage local communities and prevent young people moving into village areas which then also impacts local schools. Would WODC consider taking action to limit the numbers, licence them and try to increase costs for these properties via business rates making them less financially advantageous compared to long term rental
