About Community Safety Partnerships
Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs) bring together all those involved in tackling crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour in their communities.
Their involvement in the Rural Crime Partnership increases awareness of the project's work and facilitates the sharing of information across organisations - strengthening rural community networks, helping to reduce crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour.
What do Community Safety Partnerships do?
Members of Community Safety Partnerships work together to deliver multi-agency solutions to local problems - pooling resources, experience and learning.
They have a statutory responsibility to do all they reasonably can to make areas safer:
- Reducing the fear of crime.
- Minimising the likelihood of becoming a victim of crime.
- Addressing community safety concerns to improve the lives of residents.
They work on the principles that no single agency can address all the drivers of crime and antisocial behaviour, and that effective partnership working is vital to ensuring safer communities.
Community Safety Plans
Included in the legislation that governs CSP's is a requirement to produce a plan or strategy which sets out how each partnership will work to reduce crime and disorder in their areas.
You can view your local plan by clicking on the links at the bottom of this page.
Membership
There are over 300 CSPs across England and Wales and whilst there are number of statutory bodies that have to be included in any group the final membership list is determined locally.
Organisations involved in every CSP include:
- Police
- Fire and rescue authorities
- Local authorities, including district and county councils
- Health partners
- Probation service
They are joined by other organisations that have a vested interest in helping to prevent crime and disorder in the local community, and other groups and organisations are invited to attend where relevant to specific projects.
